Yearly Goals

Here is the latest Blog from Coach Helen Gribble – ENJOY!

How has this year been for you? Have you achieved everything that you set out to do in January?

Often, we start out the year with the best intentions, and yet end it without completing the goals that we wanted.

Yearly goals are often set to fail because of the amount of time we set ourselves to succeed. Twelve months stretch out in front of us, seeming like we have all the time in the world to make our goals a success. The sense of having unlimited time can be deceptive, and before long, most of the year has gone, and we are no further forwards.

The reality is that for most of us long term goals are just, well, too long. Breaking our goals down into smaller, bite size chunks, can be more beneficial. By hitting smaller targets consistently, we create a sense of achievement. Each success acts as a stepping stone towards where we really want to be at the end of the year.

Knowing that you can confidently hit a target, in a shorter space of time, gives us the information and confidence that we need to set our sights on the next step, making each goal more and more achievable.

If you could imagine yourself twelve months from now, what will you look like? How will you feel? What will you have achieved? How about by next March? Which seems more realistic?

With a new year approaching fast, now is the time that we all like to think about what the next twelve months will hold for us, and yet maybe it's more about what we can achieve in the next couple of months. 😊
