Progress not perfection

Sometimes the pressure to gain perfection in parts of our lives can become just too much. Before long we're berating ourselves or not getting everything 'Just right'.

Take, for example eating healthier. We all have a tendency to start out with a clear path in mind, that nothing will stop us. Yet a few days in and things aren't 'perfect' and we can end up frustrated and disappointed.

Rather than aiming too high and trying to get it right one hundred percent of the time, we're always more successful if we aim for being just a little better.

A little better might mean that we choose a diet soft drink over full fat. We might choose bakes crisps over fried crisps, or sweetener over sugar. Yes, we could make other choices, however if we keep aiming for better, rather than perfect, each choice will take us further towards our goals.

Just a 'little better' instead of 'just right' gives us the opportunity to learn and grow towards our goals, and elevates the pressure of perfection. J
