It is time for another U Fit Blog from Coach Helen Gribble! We hope you enjoy it and, as always, comment below with any questions or insights!

Sometimes a night out with friends can only mean one thing, alcohol.

How do you feel the next morning? Was the last drink one too many?

Cutting down on the amount of alcohol that you consume can have some benefits that you may not be aware of.

While passing out at the end of the night might make you think that you're getting a good night's sleep, this will impact the actual quality of your sleep. You will find that your body is not in the deeper sleep that it needs to recover, and you are more likely to wake up earlier in the morning. Cutting down can give you a better night's sleep and wake feeling fresher.

If you're out a couple of nights in a row and sleep continues to be poor, you'll find that your body starts to run down and with it your immune system. You're more likely to find yourself coming down with a cold. To avoid cold and flu remedies it may be time to avoid the last round at the bar.

Alcohol interferes with the neurotransmitters in your brain, and if you're already feeling anxious or in a lower mood than normal excess alcohol will result in an even lower mood. Lower levels of alcohol intake can keep your mood on a more even keel.

If you love a large glass of wine at the end of the day, every day, you may be interested to know that you're consuming around 1526 calories a week! Removing the excess calories from your diet will take a nice big hit on your clothes size.

With a great night's sleep, a happier mood and a smaller waistline you can see why sometimes there's a benefit in not having that 'one last' drink.😊
