Chickpeas are one of the most popular legumes in a modern diet, and not only that, they've been around for 7500 years. They are a staple part of cuisine from the Middle East, Mediterranean, and African regions.

Chickpeas are packed full of nutritional value. One cup of chickpeas has:
•14.5g of protein.
•45g of carbohydrates.
•12.5g of fibre.
•8g of sugar.
•4.3g of fat.
They are also a rich source of vitamins A and K, together with calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and phosphorus.
Chickpeas can be bought either dried or canned; they can be used as a side dish, or as a protein source for vegetarians and vegans. ☺
