Boredom Eating

021.-Boredom-Eating

It is time for another U Fit Blog from Coach Helen Gribble! We hope you enjoy it and, as always, comment below with any questions or insights!

Sometimes I would find myself with nothing to do. Friends were busy; I couldn't see anything to watch or do. My response would be to gravitate towards the kitchen and the fridge, looking for something to pass the time…food.

It didn't matter if I had just eaten, or was even intending to eat, I needed to find something to pass the time.

Once I joined U Fit, I started to pay attention to my behaviours, work out why I ate the way that I did.

I realised that I had a habit of eating out of boredom, which eating when not even hungry was a way of distracting myself.

I took some time to work out what I needed the distraction from, what I was using food to cover. The reality was that I needed to find more things to fill my time with. I looked at ways to start building on my interests, using these to fill my time instead of food.

Now I gravitate towards the things that keep my brain busy and away from the kitchen cupboards. J
