Booking ahead

019.-Booking-Ahead

It is time for another U Fit Blog from Coach Helen Gribble! We hope you enjoy it and, as always, comment below with any questions or insights!

Planning in life was never my strong point, and it's still something that I'm working on, to be honest.

When it came to training I was no different; I knew that I had to book sessions in with my coach, I was just never prepared. It was always something that was on the list to do, and I just never got around to it.

At best I would try, and crowbar a session in towards the end of the week, praying for a cancellation. It wasn't even as if I had an excuse, U Fit Studio have a front of house team member responsible for booking in sessions. …I always tried to duck past her on the way in, fearing she would corner me to get organised.

It wasn't long before I realised that I wasn't putting enough time into my goals, and my results were suffering. It also wasn't long before my coach noticed that I wasn't attending regularly enough.

We sat down together and agreed that things had to change, and I had to start scheduling ahead. The feeling of having to organise my life was uncomfortable; I think I might have even sweated a little!

I started booking in so that I could cement time that I would be attending the gym. It felt strange in the beginning as I wasn't used to it. After only a week I started to see the benefits of planning. I found that I was more committed to getting in and training than ever before, that knowing that I had agreed to attend was an agreement that I would work towards my goals.

It wasn't long before I was booking weeks and months ahead, making sure that I was taking every possible chance to commit towards my goal. While I'm not entirely organised in all parts of my life, I'm happy that training is one area that I can tick off my list.
