It is time for another U Fit Blog from Coach Helen Gribble! We hope you enjoy it and, as always, comment with any questions or insights!

Almonds have been around since the ancient Egyptians and Indians, who believed that almonds could expand brain capacity and intelligence. In the modern supermarket, you can find almonds raw, ground, in butter and flour - they are merely part of a modest diet.

From a nutritional point of view, in 100g of almonds there is:

...

576 Calories.
49g of fat.
22g of carbohydrates.
21g of protein.

Almonds can almost be classed as a 'super-nut' because they have the following significant benefits inside:

Dietary fibre.
Antioxidants.
Vitamin E.
Manganese.
Calcium.
Iron.
Magnesium.

The cherry on the top is that almonds also have mono-saturated fatty acids along with antioxidants, which are great for heart health.
